Alconex Fire carrying out the Inspect & Test in accordance with AS1851:2012 can assist building owners and owner’s agents in issuing the Annual Fire Safety Statements. Every year the owner or owner’s agent of a building or premises must provide the Local Council and Fire and Rescue NSW with a statement certifying that all fire-safety measures work properly and the Annual Fire Safety Statements must be prominently displayed within a building once issued.
From 1 October 2017 assessments for fire safety statements are to be undertaken by a competent fire safety practitioner. Building owners who submit yearly or supplementary fire safety statements will need to choose a competent fire safety practitioner. In line with NSW Government legislation, it is the owner’s responsibility to determine that the fire service contractor is competent in carrying out the servicing and maintenance of fire services in their building. Alconex Fire undertaking all routine inspection and testing of the fire protection systems within a building are currently endorsed by FPA Australia on the Interim Register as competent fire safety practitioners (CFSP) to assist the owner or owners agent in the issuing of the Annual Fire Safety Statements. Accordingly the Annual Fire Safety Statement will need to be endorsed by the owner in Section 9 which confirms that they or their authorised representative has determined that the contractor is competent. Alconex Fire will be able to assist in the preparation of the Annual Fire Safety Statement to ensure the correct information is relevant to the properties which are being maintained. Please note, either the owner or the authorised representative has to make the declarations in sections 7 and 8 that the fire services are maintained by the competent fire services contractor. Alconex Fire cannot make this declaration on behalf of the owner or its agent.
